IRFA Thanks Sen. Grassley for Securing a Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension in the Senate Tax Extenders Package
JOHNSTON, IOWA –As the Senate Finance Committee announced plans to mark up a tax extenders package on Thursday, the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today thanked Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) for leading the effort to include a two year extension of the biodiesel tax incentive.
IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw stated: “IRFA members thank Senator Grassley for leading the effort to include a retroactive two-year extension of the biodiesel tax incentive in the Senate Finance Committee’s extenders package. Biodiesel has had no better champion than Senator Grassley and we are confident he can shepherd this important provision into the final bill. Big Oil has benefited from a century of subsidies and continues to receive billions in tax breaks each year. Reinstating the biodiesel blenders tax incentive is one small way to help level the playing field so American consumers can have a true fuel choice.”
Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 13 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce 320 million gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 41 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.7 billion gallons annually.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
