84 Iowa Stations Offer E85
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today welcomed two more members to the growing family of E85 retailers across the state of Iowa. With new E85 stations in Sioux City and Ottumwa, Iowa has 84 stations offering E85. This is the first E85 pump in Sioux City and the third in Ottumwa. The two new stations are:
Sapp Bros Petroleum-Sinclair Cardtrol
129 Steuber St
Sioux City, IA 51101
34 Gas ‘n More
16288 Hwy 34
Ottumwa, IA 52501
“With gas prices hovering around the $4 per gallon mark, the demand for more E85 is spiking,” said Monte Shaw, IRFA Executive Director. “Auto dealers report of growing popularity for flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV). And fuel retailers are capitalizing on enhanced grants from the State of Iowa to install E85 pumps. We expect to see continued growth in E85 availability and sales.”
E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline and can be used in flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) designed to burn the alternative fuel. A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php. A list of FFVs can be found at: www.iowarfa.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php.
Retailers interested in installing an E85 or biodiesel pumps can receive a grant from the Iowa Department of Economic Development. Information and a grant application may be found at: www.iowalifechanging.com/business/renewablefuels.html.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s ethanol and biodiesel producers. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
