National Biodiesel Board CEO Jobe to Address
6th Annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today announced that National Biodiesel Board (NBB) Chief Executive Officer Joe Jobe will address its 6th Annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit on January 24th. Under Jobe’s leadership at NBB, the U.S. biodiesel industry has seen annual production grow from 2 million gallons in 2000 to 1 billion gallons in 2011. Jobe will address the national outlook for biodiesel in his Summit presentation.
“The U.S. biodiesel industry delivered record production in 2011, so we are delighted that Joe Jobe will be here to recap a banner year and inform our Summit audience what to expect from the biodiesel industry in 2012 and beyond,” said IRFA Biofuels Manager Grant Menke. “Iowa leads the nation in biodiesel production, so it will be very valuable for Iowans to hear from the leading voice of the U.S. biodiesel industry.”
The Summit and trade show will be held at Veterans Memorial/Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Participants can register online at www.IowaRFA.org by January 19th, where they’ll also find additional links and information relating to the Summit.
Additional highlights of the Summit will include presentations from Four-star General Paul Kern (US Army, ret.) on foreign oil’s impact on U.S. military operations as well as former Reagan National Security Advisor Robert McFarlane on breaking America’s addiction to foreign oil through consumer fuel choice. Governor Terry Branstad will address implementation of Iowa’s proactive public policy for E15 and biodiesel under his leadership. Executive Director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, Dr. Gal Luft, will spell out the real national security threats posed by our country’s dangerous dependence on foreign petroleum. The Summit will also feature panel discussions on “E15: The New Consumer Choice” and “Synergies of Livestock and Ethanol.”
Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 41 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.7 billion gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 13 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce 320 million gallons annually.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
