Iowans Fueled With Pride Releases “Ethanol and National Security” Brochure
JOHNSTON, IA – On the eve of the Republican Party of Iowa’s Ronald Reagan Dinner, Iowans Fueled with Pride (IFWP) released a brochure touting ethanol’s positive impact on national security. IFWP, which will host a booth at the Reagan Dinner, is a coalition effort aimed at educating candidates and caucus-goers about the positive role ethanol plays in America.
The brochure is a collection of statements from conservative and national security leaders explaining how America’s dependence on foreign oil funds terrorism and how ethanol is part of the solution. In line with the event, the cover of the brochure highlights a quote from President Ronald Reagan following a tour of an ethanol plant in 1984. President Reagan praised the “pioneer work in ethanol that increases demand for farm products, creates new jobs, and leads to greater energy security for our country - it's all happening here, because here in America's heartland, you are on the cutting edge of progress.”
An electronic version of the brochure can be found at: http://iowarfa.org/documents/Booklet.pdf.
“Every elected official should understand the vital role that ethanol is playing, and will continue to play, in reducing our dependence on foreign oil,” said Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) Executive Director Monte Shaw. “As the national security experts in the brochure attest, foreign oil dependence is a serious threat to the U.S. And it deserves more than a bumper sticker policy response. IRFA is proud to help support Iowans Fueled with Pride as they seek to educate candidates and share the candidates’ positions with caucus voters.”
