FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Clear Lake and Lidderdale Join the Growing List of E85 Options

JOHNSTON, Iowa - Jan 27, 2006 - The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today congratulated Kum and Go and the Farmers Cooperative for bringing E85 to Clear Lake and Lidderdale respectively. The Kum and Go E85 pump is located at 2905 4th Avenue, South in Clear Lake. Kum and Go also has E85 pumps in Ames and Ankeny.

A first for Carroll County, the Farmers Cooperative E85 pump is located at 340 S. Main Street in Lidderdale. There are 30 E85 stations throughout Iowa. A complete list of E85 fueling stations in Iowa can be found on the IRFA website at: http://www.iowarfa.org/E85Refueling.php.

“With E85 sales running ahead of expectations at current E85 outlets, interest in expanding E85 fueling options is growing rapidly,” stated Monte Shaw, IRFA Executive Director. “Combined with efforts by major auto manufacturers to raise E85 awareness and to substantially increase the number of flexible fuel vehicles capable of burning E85, we project E85 sales to continue to skyrocket. In fact, only 1/3 of the monies available from the State this fiscal year to help fund the installation costs of retail E85 pumps remains.”

The IRFA is helping expand E85 and biodiesel access by administering the Iowa Values Fund Infrastructure Program, which provides cost-share grants to install E85 fueling infrastructure and biodiesel storage facilities. A total of $325,000 has been allocated annually for three years to expand the availability of E85 and biodiesel to Iowans. The deadline to submit an application for the next approval period is Friday, February 24. For an application or further information, contact Lucy Norton at the IRFA office at 515-225-9242 or info@IowaRFA.org.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
