Durant Joins Growing List of E85 Options
Iowa Now Hosts 27 Stations Offering E85
JOHNSTON, Iowa - Apr 14, 2006 – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today congratulated Price Oil for bringing E85 to Durant. The pump, located at 302 5th, will be officially opened on Saturday, April 15th. During the grand opening event, E85 will be sold for 85 cents per gallon from 9 am to 2 pm. Free food and refreshments will also be provided.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association presented Price Oil with a $7,500 grant from the Iowa Values Fund Renewable Fuels Infrastructure program to help offset the expense of installing the pump. Iowa Corn Growers and the American Lung Association of Iowa will be on hand to help pump E85.
There are 27 E85 stations throughout Iowa. A complete list of E85 fueling stations in Iowa can be found on the IRFA website at: http://www.iowarfa.org/E85Refueling.php.
“E85 sales are again setting a record pace in 2006,” stated Lucy Norton, IRFA Managing Director. “With a record number of E85 pumps set to open this year, Iowa is quickly catching up to surrounding states in E85 availability. We have a long way to go, but new incentives and grant opportunities should make E85 attractive to gasoline retailers and consumers alike.”
The IRFA is helping expand E85 and biodiesel access by administering the Iowa Values Fund Infrastructure Program, which provides cost-share grants to install E85 fueling infrastructure and biodiesel storage facilities. A total of $325,000 has been allocated annually for three years to expand the availability of E85 and biodiesel to Iowans. The deadline to submit an application for the next approval period is June 15. For an application or further information, contact Lucy Norton at the IRFA office at 515-225-9242 or info@IowaRFA.org.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
