Star Energy Brings E85 Availability to Four Communities
Iowa Now Hosts 31 Stations Offering E85

JOHNSTON, Iowa - Apr 18, 2006 – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today congratulated Star Energy for bringing E85 to four Iowa communities: Fort Dodge, Farnhamville, Paton, and Roelyn. All four sites are 24-hour cardtrols.

The E85 pumps are located at:

  • Farnhamville: 105 Garfield Ave.
  • Ft. Dodge: 2 North 27th St.
  • Paton: 200 Main St.
  • Roelyn: 1207 Main St

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association presented Star Energy with a $4,500 grant from the Iowa Values Fund Renewable Fuels Infrastructure program to help offset the expense of installing the Fort Dodge E85 pump. VeraSun Energy in Fort Dodge and Ford Motor Company also provided grants to Star Energy for the E85 pumps.

Fort Dodge now has two E85 options. The Ampride All-Round at 3243 5th Ave. S. also provides E85. There are now 31 E85 stations throughout Iowa and a complete list of stations can be found on the IRFA website at: http://www.iowarfa.org/E85Refueling.php.

“Star Energy has made a big commitment to expanding the availability of E85 to Iowa consumers,” stated Lucy Norton, IRFA Managing Director. “The combined impact of more E85- capable vehicles (flexible fuel vehicles) and rising crude oil prices make E85 attractive to consumers.”

The IRFA is helping expand E85 and biodiesel access by administering the Iowa Values Fund Infrastructure Program, which provides cost-share grants to install E85 fueling infrastructure and biodiesel storage facilities. A total of $325,000 has been allocated annually for three years to expand the availability of E85 and biodiesel to Iowans. The deadline to submit an application for the next approval period is June 15. For an application or further information, contact Lucy Norton at the IRFA office at 515-225-9242 or info@IowaRFA.org.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
