New E85 Outlets in Dubuque and Council Bluffs

JOHNSTON, Iowa - Jun 16, 2006 - The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today congratulated two fuel retailers for adding E85 to their product mix. Dubuque now has its first E85 option while Council Bluffs now has two locations to purchase E85. A total of 38 Iowa fueling stations now offer E85 to Iowa consumers.

“The top selling vehicles in Iowa are all flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) capable of running on E85,” stated IRFA Managing Director Lucy Norton. “As the FFV fleet continues to grow, more consumers are demanding the home-grown alternative to foreign petroleum.”

Rainbow Oil now offers E85 at its Kwik Stop Key West Conoco located at 2150 Twin Valley Drive in Dubuque. Farm Service Coop added E85 to its Lakeside Ampride located at 4040 S. Expressway in Council Bluffs.

E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline and can be used in flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) designed to burn the alternative fuel.

Coordinated by the American Lung Association of Iowa, the IRFA works with Iowa Corn, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition and other groups to increase consumer access and promote consumer awareness of E85. A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
