New BioDiesel and E85 Outlets Open In Iowa
44 Iowa Stations Now Offer E85 and More than 70 Offer Biodiesel Blends

JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today congratulated a number of Iowa retailers for adding renewable fuels to their offerings. As a result, Iowa consumers have increased access to E85 and biodiesel blends around the state. Over 70 stations offer biodiesel blends and 44 stations offer E85.

Marcus Junction, located at 406 Highway 3 in Marcus, recently opened and offers both E85 and B2 (2% biodiesel, 98% diesel) to consumers. This is the first station in Cherokee county to offer E85.

Fuel Time, located at 203 Saints Avenue in St. Ansgar, now offers B5 (5% biodiesel) in addition to E85 and traditional fuels.

Today, the Heart of Iowa Coop, located at 80 West Lincolnway in Nevada, is hosting a grand opening for its E85 pump. A $20,000 check from the Iowa Values Fund Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program was presented to the station by Lucy Norton of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA). This is the second E85 location in Nevada.

Tomorrow, Elliott Oil Company’s BP station, located at 100 1st Street in Batavia, is unveiling their E85 pump. To celebrate, from 10 am to 2 pm E85 will be sold for only $1.85 per gallon and a free beef and pork lunch will be served.

“Word of success at existing E85 and biodiesel stations is spreading and more retailers are moving to offer these homegrown fuels,” stated IRFA’s Norton. “The infrastructure grants and tax incentives provided by the State of Iowa make E85 and biodiesel very attractive to retailers and consumers alike. ”

E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline and can be used in flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) designed to burn the alternative fuel.  A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php. A list of FFVs can be found at:  www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_flex.php.

Biodiesel is a clean-burning, biodegradable, alternative fuel produced from vegetable oils or animal fats that can be used in any diesel engine. A complete list of Iowa’s biodiesel fueling stations can be found at:  www.iowarfa.org/biodiesel_retailers.php.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
