Three New E85 Stations Bring Iowa Total to 58

IDED Program Provided Funds

JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today announced that Iowa consumers have three new locations to fuel up with homegrown E85 – Des Moines, Hull, and Ida Grove.  Iowa now has 58 stations offering E85.

Dahl’s Fuel, at 4341 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines, is the fourth station in the greater Des Moines region to offer E85.  Directly across Merle Hay Road is Bob Brown Chevrolet, which promotes flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) capable of burning E85.

Hull Cooperative Association, at 1207 Highway 18 in Hull, now offers E85.  They are the second station is Sioux County – Coop Gas and Oil in Sioux Center also offers E85.

Galva Holstein Ag, at 600 Highway 18 in Ida Grove, is the first E85 station in Ida County.  The company has a second E85 pump in Galva, Iowa.

The E85 stations in Hull and Ida Grove received funding through the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program.  Entities wishing to install E85 or biodiesel retailing sites or biodiesel blending terminals can apply for grants through a new $13 million Iowa Department of Economic Development infrastructure program.  An application form can be found at:  www.iowalifechanging.com/business/downloads/renewfuelprojectapp.pdf

“E85 sales continue to grow at an exponential rate,” stated IRFA’s Managing Director Lucy Norton.  “These new stations bring the option of a home-grown, renewable fuel to more Iowans.”

E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline and can be used in flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) designed to burn the alternative fuel.  A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php.  A list of FFVs can be found at:  www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_flex.php.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry.  The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
