Three New E85 and Three New Biodiesel Stations Bring Renewable Fuels Choice to Iowa Consumers
IDED Program Provided Funds to Stations in Grinnell, Mapleton, and Fredericksburg
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today announced that Iowa consumers have three new locations to fuel up with homegrown E85 and biodiesel. Iowa now has 61 stations offering E85 and 180 stations offering biodiesel blends.
“Iowa’s commitment to renewable fuels is starting to bear fruit,” stated IRFA’s Managing Director Lucy Norton. “Retailers are taking advantage of state grants and consumer response has been even better than expected.”
Today, Kum & Go, at 715 Lang Creek Avenue in Grinnell, began offering both E85 and biodiesel to consumers. This is the second station to offer both E85 and biodiesel in Grinnell.
Casey’s General Store, on Highway 141 in Mapleton, recently began offering both E85 and biodiesel to customers. They are the first E85 station in Monona County.
Fredericksburg Coop, on Highway 18 in Fredericksburg, recently became the second station in Chickasaw County to offer E85.
Cartersville Elevator, at 21823 160th Street in Rockwell, recently began selling biodiesel to consumers.
The stations in Grinnell, Mapleton and Fredericksburg received funding through the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program. Entities wishing to install E85 or biodiesel retailing sites or biodiesel blending terminals can apply for grants through the $13 million Iowa Department of Economic Development infrastructure program. An application form can be found at: www.iowalifechanging.com/business/downloads/renewfuelprojectapp.pdf
A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php. A complete list of biodiesel retailers can be found at: http://www.iowarfa.org/biodiesel_retailers.php. Both lists can be searched by county to help consumers traveling throughout Iowa find renewable fuels.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
