Iowans Have Six New Energy Independence Fueling Options
Five New E85 and One New Biodiesel Station Open Close to July 4th
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today announced that Iowa consumers have six new “energy independence” fueling options with six new locations to fuel up with either homegrown E85 or biodiesel. Iowa now has 66 stations offering E85 and 186 stations offering biodiesel blends.
“July 4th is always a great time to reflect on our freedoms and Iowans in five communities now have the freedom to select a homegrown fuel,” stated IRFA’s Managing Director Lucy Norton. “This is just the beginning. Over the next couple of months we could see dozens of new E85 and biodiesel fueling options across Iowa.”
Over the past several days, Kum & Go added E85 to three stations – keeping them Iowa’s leading E85 retailer with nine outlets. The three new stores are located in Coralville, at 822 1st Avenue, Johnston, at 6130 NW 86th Street, and De Soto, at 1206 Guthrie Street.
Eastern Iowa Propane and Petro, at 4540 Lincolnway Street in Clinton, recently began offering both E85 and biodiesel to customers. This is the first E85 outlet and third biodiesel station in Clinton County. This station received a renewable fuels infrastructure grant from the Iowa Values Fund.
Max Yield Coop, on Highway 18 in Emmetsburg, recently began offering E85. This is the second E85 outlet in Palo Alto County.
The stations in Coralville, Johnston, De Soto, and Emmetsburg received funding through the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program. Entities wishing to install E85 or biodiesel retailing sites or biodiesel blending terminals can apply for grants through the $13 million Iowa Department of Economic Development infrastructure program. An application form can be found at: www.iowalifechanging.com/business/downloads/renewfuelprojectapp.pdf
A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php. A complete list of biodiesel retailers can be found at: http://www.iowarfa.org/biodiesel_retailers.php. Both lists can be searched by county to help consumers traveling throughout Iowa find renewable fuels.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
