Casey’s Adds Biodiesel Option at Pleasantville Store
Special Promotion Set for Friday, July 13th
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) today congratulated Casey’s General Stores for adding biodiesel to its store at 1006 W. Pleasant in Pleasantville. This is the first (corporate-owned) Casey’s General Store to offer biodiesel in Iowa. Iowa now has 187 stations offering biodiesel blends.
“It’s exciting to see Casey’s enter the biodiesel market in Iowa,” stated IRFA’s Managing Director Lucy Norton. “We’re hopeful that if everything goes well this is just the beginning. Iowa’s truckers and farmers are increasingly demanding biodiesel blends because of its superior lubricity and lower price – not to mention it’s home-grown.”
To celebrate the new product, Casey’s will be selling biodiesel discounted five cents per gallon from 8 am to 4 pm on Friday, July 13th at the Pleasantville location. The promotion is sponsored by the Iowa Clean Air Choice™ Team, which consists of the American Lung Association of Iowa, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, General Motors, Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, , Iowa Soybean Association, Kum & Go, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, Iowa Biodiesel Board and Siouxland Energy & Livestock Cooperative. These organizations have come together in an effort to educate consumers about the environmental, economic, and national security benefits of using renewable fuels.
Entities wishing to install E85 or biodiesel retailing sites or biodiesel blending terminals can apply for grants through the $13 million Iowa Department of Economic Development infrastructure program. An application form can be found at: www.iowalifechanging.com/business/downloads/renewfuelprojectapp.pdf
A complete list of biodiesel retailers can be found at: http://www.iowarfa.org/biodiesel_retailers.php. The list can be searched by county to help consumers traveling throughout Iowa find biodiesel retailers.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
