Kum & Go Announces Statewide Biodiesel Promotion

Special Discounts Available on Wednesday, July 18th

JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) congratulates Kum & Go on their statewide biodiesel promotion July 18th, 2007 at all Kum & Go locations offering biodiesel. There will be a ribbon cutting at the Kum & Go at 3400 SE 14th St in Des Moines. Along with the ribbon cutting, Des Moines Mayor Frank Cownie will unveil the Clean Air Choice Team’s new biodiesel billboard.

“We are glad to have a company such as Kum & Go be a champion of renewable fuels,” stated IRFA’s Managing Director Lucy Norton.  “Their efforts promoting renewable fuels have had a positive impact on Iowa as well as the renewable fuel industry.”

Kum & Go will be selling biodiesel discounted ten cents per gallon from 8 am to noon on Wednesday, July 18th at all Kum & Go biodiesel locations. These locations are: Adair, Adel, Ames, Ankeny, Bevington, Boone, Clive, Colfax, Des Moines, De Soto, Eldorah, Ellsworth, Greenfield, Grimes, Grinnell, Jefferson, Lamoni, Marshaltown, New Virginia, Norwalk, Osceola, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Pleasant Hill, St. Charles, Story City, Urbandale, and West Des Moines.

The promotion is sponsored by the Iowa Clean Air Choice™ Team, which consists of the American Lung Association of Iowa, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, General Motors, Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, , Iowa Soybean Association, Kum & Go, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, Iowa Biodiesel Board and Siouxland Energy & Livestock Cooperative. These organizations have come together in an effort to educate consumers about the environmental, economic, and national security benefits of using renewable fuels.

Entities wishing to install E85 or biodiesel retailing sites or biodiesel blending terminals can apply for grants through the $13 million Iowa Department of Economic Development infrastructure program.  An application form can be found at:  www.iowalifechanging.com/business/downloads/renewfuelprojectapp.pdf
