Ottumwa Celebrates New E85 Station with Special Discounts

Penn and Jeff BP becomes 73rd E85 Retailer in Iowa

JOHNSTON, IA – Discounts on E85 and food were part of the grand opening for Iowa’s newest E85 retailer on Nov. 13. The event, sponsored by the Clean Air Choice ™ Team, ran from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) congratulates Penn and Jeff BP on adding another E85 refueling site to Iowa. The site is the first of its kind in Ottumwa, and brings the number of E85 refueling sites in Iowa to 73, making it one of the top states in offering E85.

“E85 is reaching more consumers, giving them a cleaner and renewable fuel source that keeps their money right here in Iowa,” said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw. “It’s not surprising that consumer demand for ethanol is pushing the number of E85 refueling sites in Iowa near triple digits.”

The Penn and Jeff BP is located at 1147 N. Jefferson St., Ottumwa

Motorists also have two additional stations that recently began offering E85 -- United Farmers Mercantile, located at 203 West Oak in Red Oak, and Kum & Go, located at 1920 South Federal Avenue in Mason City.

A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php. A complete list of biodiesel retailers can be found at:  http://www.iowarfa.org/biodiesel_retailers.php. Both lists can be searched by county to help consumers traveling throughout Iowa find renewable fuels.

The Iowa Clean Air Choice™ Team consists of the American Lung Association of Iowa, General Motors, Iowa Corn Promotion Board, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, Iowa Soybean Association, Kum & Go, National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition, and Iowa Biodiesel Board. These organizations have come together in an effort to educate consumers about the environmental, economic, and national security benefits of using renewable fuels.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
