Kum & Go Offers Two More E85 Refueling Sites
Stations in Grimes and Norwalk bring Iowa total to 78
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association today congratulated Kum & Go for adding E85 at two more central Iowa locations. The station in Grimes, just off of Highway 141, began offering E85 on Dec. 22 and the Norwalk location, off of Highway 28, started pumping E85 today. This brings the total number of stations in Iowa offering E85 to 78.
“Two years ago, Iowa had only 30 E85 stations; now we have almost 80. There’s clearly demand for a clean, renewable fuel source that keeps consumers’ money right here in Iowa,” said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw. “New data suggests there are several parts of Iowa that have the right vehicles to use E85, but sometimes there are no refueling sites nearby. We are pleased retailers continue to fulfill these needs by adding E85 sites.”
The two Kum & Go stations are located at 1950 Princeton Drive in Grimes and 2991 Sunset Drive in Norwalk. Kum & Go now has 15 E85 refueling sites in Iowa – more than any other retailer.
A complete list of Iowa’s E85 fueling stations can be found at: www.IowaRFA.org/ethanol_e85refueling.php. A complete list of biodiesel retailers can be found at: http://www.iowarfa.org/biodiesel_retailers.php. Both lists can be searched by county to help consumers traveling throughout Iowa find renewable fuels.
Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 28 ethanol refineries with the capacity to produce over 2 billion gallons annually. There are 18 ethanol refineries under construction or expansion that will add 1.6 billion gallons of annual capacity. In addition, Iowa has 16 biodiesel refineries with a combined annual capacity of over 350 million gallons either in operation or under construction. Many additional renewable fuels projects are under development.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s ethanol and biodiesel producers. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
