BP Country Store in Carroll Now Offers E85

Iowa Now Has 88 E85 Refueling Sites

JOHNSTON, Iowa — The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) congratulates the BP Country Store for offering E85 to Carroll customers. It is the 88th in the state. The station started pumping E85 today, with a grand opening celebration planned for tomorrow – Friday, Aug. 8. Flexible fuel vehicle drivers can find the new location at:

“Good economics, more FFVs, and enhanced state grants have combined to create the most interest in E85 we’ve ever seen,” said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw. “This is a testament to the fact that Iowans want cleaner, cheaper alternatives to traditional gasoline. We applaud BP for making such an alternative available.”

The grand opening celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 8. E85 will be discounted to $2.85 per gallon. Customers can purchase a hot dog and ice cream for just $1. There will also be drawings for $25 gift cards and other prizes.

E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. It can be used in flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) designed to burn the alternative fuel. The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s ethanol and biodiesel producers. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
