IRFA Congratulates Renewable Fuels Marketing Award Winners
JOHNSTON, IA – The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) would like to congratulate the winners of the 2010 Renewable Fuels Marketing Awards presented by Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS). Selected as this year’s winners were Farm Service Company in Council Bluffs and Elliot Oil in Ottumwa.
Farm Service, IDALS’
Renewable Fuels Marketing Award recipient for ethanol, has been working to provide flex-fuel vehicle owners with more ethanol blend levels to choose from. Farm Service installed their first E85 dispenser upgrade in 2006 at the Lakeside Ampride in Council Bluffs and in 2007 an E85 dispenser was installed at their east side location along Interstate 80, which also offers biodiesel. Farm Service plans to install four E85 blender pumps that will offer flex-fuel vehicle customers E20 and E50 in addition to E85 and E10.
IDALS’ Renewable Fuels Marketing Award recipient for biodiesel, Elliot Oil, has been working diligently to educate customers and make biodiesel more widely available on the retail level. Since purchasing a small distributorship that sold no biofuels in 2008, Elliott Oil undertook a customer education effort and has since converted many customers to satisfied biodiesel users. Elliot Oil also supports ethanol as they have been involved with making E85 available to customers at 4 retail facilities in SE Iowa.
“These winners are very deserving of the awards and we would like to thank them, on behalf of Iowa’s biofuels industry, for their commitment to renewable fuels,” said IRFA Executive Director Monte Shaw.
Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 39 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.3 billion gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 15 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce over 322 million gallons annually.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
