IRFA Members Gather over $40,000 for Haiti Victims
JOHNSTON, IA – In efforts to raise money for the victims of Haiti, three Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) members raised over $40,000. Checks went to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development fund.
The IRFA members that contributed to the effort were Big River Resources in West Burlington, IA, Absolute Energy in St. Ansgar, IA, and Golden Grain Energy in Mason City, IA.
“Whether the need is here in Iowa or abroad, IRFA members have consistently stepped up to help out the victims of natural disasters. We thank our members for offering assistance to the Haitian people during their time of extreme need, and we are proud to be a part of the ag and renewable fuels industry that is feeding and fueling the world,” said IRFA Biofuels Manager Grant Menke.
Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production. Iowa has 39 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.3 billion gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 15 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce over 322 million gallons annually.
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
