IRFA Announces Fifth Annual

Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit and Trade Show

Free to the Public

JOHNSTON, IA – Companies and individuals will have the opportunity to be part of Iowa’s biofuels revolution at the fifth annual Iowa Renewable Fuels Summit on January 25, 2011. The event is hosted by the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) and will take place at the Polk County Convention Complex from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The summit is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required, which can be done at www.IowaRFA.org. Anyone with questions can contact Lucy Norton at the IRFA office at (515) 252-6249. Last year’s summit drew nearly 800 people, and more are expected this year to hear about consumer fuel choices and how biofuels will help bring more energy independence to the nation.

“Iowans are encouraged to attend to learn how the renewable fuels industry will navigate new markets and maneuver through new policies,” said Lucy Norton, IRFA Managing Director.  “Participants can also visit with exhibitors to see the latest equipment for ethanol and biodiesel and learn more about new technology to further improve efficiencies for renewable fuels.”

Attendees will hear from industry leaders and policy makers on introducing the newest ethanol blend – E15 – to Iowa motorists, advancing alternative fuels beyond the “blend wall” and military deployment of renewable fuels to reduce foreign energy use.

Iowa is the leader in renewable fuels production.  Iowa has 40 ethanol refineries capable of producing nearly 3.7 billion gallons annually. In addition, Iowa has 14 biodiesel facilities with the capacity to produce over 320 million gallons annually.

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association was formed in 2002 to represent the state’s liquid renewable fuels industry. The trade group fosters the development and growth of the renewable fuels industry in Iowa through education, promotion, legislation and infrastructure development.
